Last chance: MDIEU grant for increasing long-term employability

30 May 2024
The Dutch are getting older, and careers are lasting longer. To help employers keep their employees healthy and motivated at work until they reach retirement, the long-term employability for businesses grant (MDIEU) has been in place temporarily since 2021. Interested in taking advantage of this scheme? Then be sure not to wait too long. The last opportunity to apply for this grant is in early September.

For employers

Employers can apply for the grant for activities that enhance the long-term employability of employees. This could include organising training courses or conducting research as well as giving employees ownership of their careers. Organisations can claim subsidies of up to 50% of the costs for these activities. Up to 25% of an organisation’s costs can be reimbursed for activities aimed at stopping work earlier. The minimum grant amount that can be applied for is €75,000.

Four themes

Applications for the grant can be for activities that contribute to one or more of the following themes that are in line with HumanCapitalCare’s expertise:

  1. Promoting healthy, safe and vital work.
  2. Stimulating good employment and commissioning practices.
  3. Facilitating lifelong development and labour mobility for employees.
  4. Increasing awareness among employees concerning long-term employability and taking control of their careers.

Don’t delay

Applications for the grant can only be submitted during the application period. The next – and final – opportunity to apply for the grant will start on 2 September. A budget of €100 million is available for this period and applications will be processed in order of receipt.
